'One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back.'

TRIAL OF A TIME LORD: "If you like adventure, my dear, I can promise you an abundance of it!" Commendable authority figure for some, crotchety impatient dunderhead to others, overall Hartnell was never a Doctor you could really like. Respect, revere, even admire - maybe. Want to spend a little time in his company? No way. All those mannerisms, the preachy dialogue, rude put-downs and lapel-grabbing have not survived the passing of time at all well. The Daleks were what you watched Doctor Who for, along with the fun companions, the weird locations and the cliffhangers. This Doctor was just window-dressing.
