IT'S THE END: "The Watcher. So he was the Doctor all the time..." Eh? Tom climbs onto a gantry of a radio telescope and then falls off whilst trying to save the universe, but not before getting trippy flashbacks of all his enemies and pals from the previous seven years. Then Tom "poignantly" merges with a white taffeta and cotton wool-wrapped chap who is apparently some kind of advance projection of the Fifth Doctor. Longer-than-usual gap between the end of Baker's final season and the start of the next was plugged by The Five Faces Of Doctor Who series of repeats on BBC2.

'It's the end ... but the moment has been prepared for.'
